The U.S. Green Building Council awarded Golden Belt a LEED Gold distinction in December 2009 making it the largest, all-historic, LEED Gold campus in the Southeast. Read more.

Golden Belt was a 2009 TCrew Champion Award winner for the best redevelopment project siting that “not only is the campus visually attractive, but it is proving to be economically viable.”  Read more.

The Durham City-County Appearance Commission and Keep Durham Beautiful recognized Golden Belt for its tranformation from a “former blighted, dilapidated pile of bricks” to a campus and surrounding area that has been “creatively restored and repurposed in an environmentally sustainable manner while perserving historic, architectural elements.”  Read more.

The American Institute of Architects of North Carolina awarded Belk Architecture, the principle architect for Golden Belt, the prestigous Committee on the Environment (COTE) Award for their sustainable approach to this historic project.  Read more.
