I love that art allows us to make our own rules. When I begin a series of paintings I set constraints—in technique, materials, and/or form—and then create works within the prescribed boundaries. At present the single, large circle intrigues me. With its perfect symmetry the circle presents exciting challenges in design while it evokes images and ideas ranging from the Japanese flag, to the feminine and the eternal.
